Boeing 787 Section 47/48 Integrator and Capital Equipment - Vought Industries
In late 2004, AIT was chosen by Vought Industries as the Total Project Integrator for the New Boeing 787 Dreamliner Aft Fuselage - Sections 47 and 48. AIT is the largest single supplier to Vought Industries for the 787 Dreamliner. The new approach to building the Boeing 787 requires many innovative concepts and solutions. AIT has worked closely with Vought to bring together all the elements required to develop and provide these solutions.

787 Dreamliner Facility and Systems Integrator Assembly Line Aft and Mid Bodies Join - Global Aeronautica
In June of 2005, AIT was chosen to be the Facility and Systems Integrator for the Assembly Line by Global Aeronautica for the Boeing 787 mid- and aft-body joins. The project will include Sections 43, 44, 45/11, 46, 47 and 48 of the Boeing 787. The Integration scope for the assembly line includes the Section Loader/Unloader, Flexible Handling System, additional components for the Major Barrel Join, Under-Wing and Over-Wing System Integration, Fairing and continued Over- and Under-Wing Installation, Integration and Final Join of Sections 47 and 48, systems install for Sections 47 and 48, and systems installation for both mid- and aft-bodies. In its role as Facility Integrator, AIT will provide turnkey integration, support, capital equipment, and automation for the entire process.
  • AIT is the Facility Integrator for the Boeing 787 Mid- and Aft-Body Joins.
  • Project will include Sections 43, 44, 45/11, 46, 47, and 48.
  • Part-to-Part Indexing will be accomplished by precision section manipulation and alignment of key features.
  • Sections will be joined in a process consisting of seven different Position Stations.
  • Automated Positioning Towers will raise, lower, and roll the aircraft sections into the proper position at each of the various stations.
  • AIT will provide integration support for the entire process.
Boeing 787 Dreamliner Facility Automated Assembly Cell for Mate to Section 43, 44, and 46 - Global Aeronautica
AIT is the Prime Contractor/Integrator to Global Aeronautica for the design, fabrication and installation of the 787 Dreamliner automated flexible positioning and assembly system used to join Section 45/11 mate to Sections 43, 44, and 46.  The system automatically measures key features on the four sections to ensure precise alignment.  The AIT embedded Laser Tracker interface will control and synchronize multiple lasers in this task.  Software will allow the user to assign weights or alignment priorities to the measured points. The system will be put into production in November 2006.
